Now that was fun.  I go to Buffalo Wild Wings over lunch yesterday to watch a bit of the Cub game… So I happen to be there during that 2nd inning.  Yikes - that was pathetic!  Leiber gave up 4 bombs in the 2nd inning alone which was a franchise record for one inning off of one pitcher (I’d hope).  The Reds went on to bomb the Cubs 9-0 and hit 7 HR’s off of their pitching.  Nasty!

So let me get this straight Lou.  You can take out Rich Hill in the 1st inning after giving up 1 run and no hits (sure, 5 walks sucks but still).  But when Lieber gives up 3 bombs in the 2nd inning alone you can’t take him out?  You have to wait til #4 gets rocketted into the bleachers?  And add insult to injury - Lieber was Hill’s replacement in the rotation when Lou sent him down to the minors.  Brilliant move as usual Lou-ser.  Something tells me you won’t be popping the champaign again this year!

So much to cover and so little time.  I apologize for the lack of updates this week.  As I’m sure you all noticed, we had some major server issues yesterday and had to perform some upgrades which caused a chain effect of problems.  I think things are back and stable now - so thank you for your patience!!!  Still looking for a blogger or two to help me keep up here at CubsSuckClub.com - let me know if interested.  Onto the fun stuff…

1) It’s TIME!!! Cardinals vs. Cubs round 1.  We will in attendance at Busch Stadium tonight - if it doesn’t rain.  This year is different.  The Cubs typically suck all year and then roll the Cardinals.  This years Cardinal team won’t roll over to the Cubs, so beware Chubbies.

2) How about last night? LOL.  Huge loss in the 9th inning.  Kerry Wood = Ooops. Cubs back in 2nd place so that’s a good thing!

3) The contest… Due to the mentioned server problems - we haven’t put together the results yet.  Look for those to come out later this afternoon and the winners will be notified and posted on here.

4) Major shout out to CardinalsDiaspora.com for posting one of the best posts we’ve seen in a long time.  Don’t miss the Top 10 Reasons the Cubs Suck.  Huge props to them for coming up with this list and giving us some more ammo to use against the hopeless Cubbies.

5) C70 at the Bat is live blogging tonights Cardinals/Cub game.  They have a different website owner responsible for blogging each inning.  Pretty unique.  Head over there and give some of you Cub Hatred tonight if you get a chance!

Sports Illustrated is at it again. We are pretty sure their feature writers are Cardinal/White Sox fans. We all remember a few years back when they had the SI magazine curse on the Cubs. Well, check out the upcoming Sports Illustrated magazine cover with the headline: “It’s Gonna Happen”… LOL! Another year of disappointment is in the works I do believe. Fukudome is solid - but far from enough to break this 100 year curse. Be sure to pick up your copy of this magazine when it comes out as a reminder of why the Cubs truly are cursed!

Cmon Cubbies.  Not everyone is as horrible as the Pirates.  But the Nationals are!  If you are going to be the “powerhouse” of the Central and break that 100 year curse - you have GOT to beat the Washington Nationals for crying out loud.  The bats just went dead in this series as the Cubs looked like the Cubs of old again.  Honestly, they made John Lannan look like Cy Young out there.

Ok, so enough bashing of the Cubs in this series.  Let’s look ahead at what is in store.  Kinda a big week for the Cubbies.  Playing at home vs. the Brewers than travel to St. Louis for a 3 game weekend series.  Not a good time to “quit hitting” Cubbies.  Any thoughts on these series?  I think the Brewers come in and win 2 of 3 in Chicago and then the Cardinals take 2 of 3 at Busch to put a hurtin on the loveable losers.

I can hear all of you sheep now - but the Cubs are still in first place - blah blah.  The Redbirds are just .5 behind with Milwaukee only 2 out.  You just don’t have the team to run away with the division and hide - as much as you wish you did Cubs fans.
