Over a Century of Bad Chicago Cubs Baseball

No Singing in Chicago Today

100 Years of Suckiness — By webmaster on Wednesday, June 25, 2008

There will be no singing at Wrigley today.  Put that dumb song to rest Cub fans because the Orioles finally put you in your place.  Yeah, they had won 14-15-whatever in a row at home… Yeah, they might have the best record baseball… Yeah, they might have swept the Whitesox… Yeah, yeah, yeah…

All those positives and they are still just a few games ahead of the Cardinals and another few ahead of the Wild Card.  With over half a season to go - this could be a dissapointing ending for the North Siders.  Big Zambrano out… OUCH!  Soriano gone - they won’t admit it - but OUCH!  Watch, Aramis or DLee will go cripple here soon.  Probably Aramis as he always spends a week or two vacation on the DL.

Also, how are you going to handle the rigorous 2nd half schedule on the road?  To date they have played 41 home games and just 36 road games.  16-20 on the road?  YIKES!  Just preparing you Cub fans for a long 2nd half of the season.  Don’t say we didn’t tell you so.

Yikes?!? Yikes what?
Away records
Boston 18-22
Arizona 16-23
T.B. 15-18
Milw 18-21
W. Sox 18-23
Minn 16-20
Fla 18-20

Only 5 teams don’t have a losing road record. 3 are in the AL. The Cards at 22-16, worries me a bit, but Yikes? They play 6 games at each other park. They don’t play the Brewers until July 28. Both Zambrano and Soriano should be at full stride by then. Ben Sheets should be on the D/L by then.

I think the point was that the Scubs don’t play well on the road. What does it matter what the other teams do on the road? When the Scubs are on the road the teams they will face will be at HOME. Or have I missed something here?

Mine point? What teams play well away? The Cubs play at home has vastly counteracted being 4 under away. What other teams can say that? Boston and TB.
45 road games and 40 home games left. If they win 25 at home and 18 on the road, it will equal 91 wins. Some of the away series include SF, WS, ATL, PITT, CIN and twice at HOU. 20 games against bad teams. I’m not worried at all. Cubs should win 95-100. If St. Louis is better than that, LaRussa is the greatest manager ever.

No, if the Cards win more than 91 games, LaRussa is just being LaRussa. And why are you people still surprised by what this young Cards team is doing? They have the 2nd best record in the NL, right behind the team you all think is the greatest. They’ve shown how much moxie they have all season long, and nothing these kids do would surprise me anymore, even winning more than 91 games.

Mine point? There’s a long way to go in this season, and Scub fans are always too quick to anoint the Scubs champions. Besides, winning the division is only the first step, and historically the Scubs have failed miserably in postseason.

Is Jim Edmonds going to get a standing O when he returns to St. Louis? Great pickup so far.

He just might. See, Cards fans are willing to acknowledge great players whether former Cardinals or not. In Baseball Heaven we even applaud a player on the opposing team if he makes a good play, something completely foreign to the Scub fateful. Jimmy gave us the best years of his career, and we still appreciate his abilities. So don’t be surprised if you hear cheers when he comes up to bat. Will there be some booing? Sure, after all he IS the enemy now, but mostly you’ll hear cheers.

Mine point is the mighty cubbie juggernaut is showing cracks in the foundation.

Big difference - Caveman Carlos Zambrano beats up his catcher in the public’s view and is patted on the back. An Astro pitcher goes after the GM and is released. Just goes to show how stupid the Cub ownership is.

Barrett wasn’t Z’s boss. Chacon tried to choke his. If you got into a fight with a co-worker, you may not lose your job. If you try to fight your boss, you get fired. Also, you’re comparing Z to Chacon?!? If it were Oswalt, do you think things would be different?

You brainwashed sheep are all the same. Hitting a coworker is immediate termination in most places, boss or not. Cavey should have been thrown off the team and anyone with half a brain knows it.

“…and anyone with half a brain knows it.”

And there you have it.
