Sweeeeeep!!!

As if it doesn’t hurt bad enough just being the Cubs… The Cubs took another one on the chin Sunday in front of the nation on ESPN. Getting swept by rival Cardinals… How in the world do you let a guy like Gary Bennet beat you? Seriously? Bullpen has serious issues. Hitting was non-existent all series. I was at the series and was amazed at the # of Cub fans. But one problem, every one of them I saw was just chatting drinking a beer. No one cared about the actual game. Disgraceful and wasting a ticket! Do yourself and Cardinal fans a favor next year and stay home, leave those tickets to true fans!

One last thing to think about over the offseason… SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!

Izturis Joins Lovable Losers

In a desperate attempt to salvage something good from this season on Monday, the Cubs made a couple small deals. They shipped off future hall of famer Greg Maddux to the Los Angeles Dodgers for young SS Cesar Izturis. On the outside, this trade looks desirable for Cub fans. But we’re here to tell you, IT’S NOT! Izturis has a great glove, that is what he does. He has NO offensive game. Cesar has never batted higher that .288 in any given season and his career high in HR’s is 4. Yeah he gets a few stolen bases and a few triples, but that’s it. No pop whatsoever. Basically he’s a mix between Ronny Cedeno and Juan Pierre with the bat. So let’s take a look at how this affects their already potent (haha) lineup.

1. Juan Pierre
2. Cesar Izturis
3. Aramis Ramirez
4. John Mabry/Phil Nevin
5. Jauque Jones
6. Michael Barrett
7. Ronny Cedeno
8. A. Pagan
9. Pitcher spot

So adding izturis does what? Nothing. It sures up the middle infield defensively for sure. But with Pierre, Izturis and Cedeno all in a lineup, runs will be hard to come by unless they steal every base, including home.

The other small deal that was done on Monday was Todd Walker was shipped to the San Diego Padres for a young AAA pitcher. This is ironic only because it was during the same weak that Todd Walker was named “Scrub of the Week”. Coincidence? Nah!
