Ouch, That Hurts
The Cubs seriously took one on the chin Monday night as they fell 5-4 to the 1st place Brewers. They were up 4-2 going into the 8th inning when the ‘pitching machine’ Scott Eyre came into the game and gave up two runs, including a solo homerun by Prince Fielder.
“I made us play about six extra innings and use guys that didn’t need to pitch tonight,” said Eyre, who has a 15.00 ERA. “I’m having a tough time with everybody. If I make a mistake, I get hit.”
That’s typically what happens Scotty. You make mistakes and get hit. The game then went scoreless until the 12th inning when the Cubs put in Rocky Cherry (nice name) for his Major League debut. Not a good idea! Prince Fielder made mince meat of him as well, belting a game winning homerun to right field.
“It was a slider, it was a little bit in, but he got to it and it went out,” Cherry said. “I know he’s a good hitter. I’ve seen him on TV in the big leagues. He did a good job.”
Seen him hit on TV? He acts like he’s in awe of Prince Fielder or something. Better grow up quick buddy. Sounds like the entire Cub organization was at arms after the game…
- Sweet Lou declined all interviews
- Gerald Perry was yelling at the umps down the hallway
- Mark Derosa was still complaining about the ‘last strike’ call
All in all - just another day in Cubbie land. The Cubs moved to an impressive 3-8 at home and 7-12 overall sitting alone in last place!!! What next?
