Astros Break the Slump at Wrigley

Cubs Suck News — By webmaster on Tuesday, April 10, 2007

soriano_outfield.jpgIf your team is in a slump - all it usually takes is a trip to Wrigley Field to get you back on track. The Astros who have been slumping to start the season went into the Cubs opening day home game and beat them 5-3 on Monday afternoon. The awful Cubs bullpen sucked it up and lossed the game once again for the Cubbies. Howry took the loss while Lilly pitched decent again.

“The loss. That was the worst part,” Piniella said of his first game running the home dugout. “I mean, what are you going to do? We just lost it. We got beat. … Let’s hope we don’t have any more opening days this year, we’re 0-2 already.”

Duh - Usually the loss is the worst part…. Soriano seemed to enjoy his first home Cub game but went just 1-4. He had several yelling at him in the outfield.

“I was paying attention to the game, so it’s a little hard to understand what they say,” he said.

Ok Alfonso - we’ll take a little guess at what these awesome Cub fans are saying…

  1. We love you Alfonso and we don’t give a crap how well you do.
  2. We wish we had Cory Patterson back!
  3. Welcome to Wrigley Field Alfonso; want a beer?
  4. Hey Alfonso - Check out this hot chick up here.
  5. Will you please run out to the outfield as fast as you can and beat your chest and make all of us yell and scream like Sammy used to? Please!

What else you think these Cubbie faithful were yelling? The Cubs continue the misery this afternoon with a 1:20 start vs. the Astros again. Marquis vs. Sampson!

Wade Miller Rocked

Cubs Suck News — By webmaster on Monday, April 9, 2007

wademiller.jpgThe Cubs expiremental fifth starter, Wade Miller, didn’t do so well on Easter Sunday. Miller gave up 6 earned runs in just 4 innings of work. All in all - a nasty outing. He was getting knocked all over the ballpark in the 2nd inning including a rope to the wall by former Cub, Damian Miller. Jenkins and Gross also went back to back in that same 2nd inning. Miller moved to 0-1 and in the outing had 2 walks and 0 k’s. I thought this guy was a fire baller? Must have been those 2 surgery’s.

Monday the Cubs finally open at home. The Astros come to Chicago to put a stop to their losing ways. Game time is 2:20. The Astros skipper has not been happy about their start,

“Clearly, our lineup is not clicking,” Garner said. “We’re not getting on, we’re not getting any movement.”

Look for this to end during the Cubs series.

Bullpen Blows It

Cubs Suck News — By webmaster on Friday, April 6, 2007

p1_marquis1_ap.jpgThe Cubs wasted a golden opportunity to get a ‘rare’ win out of Jason Marquis on Thursday.  Marquis pitched great baseball and quieted some doubters for the time being.  We at Cubs Suck Club still believe he was vastly overpaid and it will turn out to be a train wreck - but it was a good start none the less.

The pathetic bullpen managed to blow this Marquis win though; giving up 2 in the 7th and 2 in the 8th.  Howry took the loss in this one.  So the Cubs lost 2 of 3 to the horrible Reds - nice start!  They’ve shown their typical Cub bad habits and just not played good baseball.  I’m sure we’ll have more to come.  Onto the Brewers series.

Things should be almost seemless for the users except for getting used to the new LOOK!

  • Your usernames/passwords have stayed the same - now you login on the right hand side.
  • The forum has been upgraded to a new system - MUCH nicer!!! All posts from the forums were preserved.
  • Old comments and post ratings were not preserved - we might retreive those later if time allows.
  • Alls posts, jokes, facts, quotes, news, and images were kept in tact.
  • The images section is changed.
  • We’ve added a small ’shoutbox’ chat section in the right frame. Feel free to shout out to me us at anytime.

Well, I’m sure there is more - but that’s it for now. Let’s hope everything goes smoothly and you all don’t have troubles. Make use of the post comments to respond to a certain post!

Bait

Cubs Suck Jokes — By webmaster on Monday, April 2, 2007

On a tour of Florida, the Pope took a couple of days off to visit the coast for some sightseeing.

He was cruising along the beach in the Popemobile when there was a frantic commotion just off shore.

A helpless man, wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey, was struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 25-foot shark.

As the Pope watched, horrified, a speedboat came racing up with three men wearing St. Louis Cardinals jerseys aboard. One quickly fired a harpoon into the shark’s side. The other two reached out and pulled the bleeding, semi-conscious Cubs fan from the water.

Then using (autographed by Albert Pujols himself) baseball bats, the three heroes in Cardinal Red beat the shark to death and hauled it into the boat. Immediately the Pope shouted and summoned them to the beach.

“I give you my blessing for your brave actions,” he told them.  “I heard that there was some bitter hatred between Cardinal and Cub fans, but now I have seen with my own eyes that this is not the truth.”

As the Pope drove off, the harpooner asked his buddies “Who was that?” “It was the Pope,” one replied. “He is in direct contact with God and has access to all of God’s wisdom.”

“Well,” the harpooner said, “he may have access to God’s wisdom.. But he don’t know shit about shark fishing”.

How”s the bait holding up?”
