7:45 PM: Good evening everyone. I’m feeling a Cub loss tonight boys! 0-2 is just 4 hours away. How does Lou take Zambrano out with 85 pitches? Dumb! Let’s get some chatter going. Any dbacks fans in the house? Cub fans? Would like to welcome any visitors from AZ Snakepit. They have a great dbacks blog over there with some great fans! Cub fans also have some live in game comments going on over at Chicago Cubs Online.

8:15 PM: Tonights lineup is looking like a loser.

Doug Davis is 7-5 lifetime vs. the Cubbies with an impressive 3.39 ERA. Lilly is 0-2 vs. the Dbacks with a 3.38 ERA. Low scoring game? Let’s just get to the Cubbie bullpen again. Will Lou go back to Marmol again or has he lost confidence after game 1?

8:50 PM: 10 minutes til gametime. Despite their low ERA’s something tells me this game is going to be higher scoring. The bats come out tonight I do believe. Speaking of bats, the Indians showed up with their bats tonight for sure. Congrats also to the Rockies on going up 2-0. Looking at a PURE NL WEST NLCS!!! They better get this game off of TBS soon!

9:00 PM: Game time! Whoopie - the Indians hit another HR. Get this game off the screen! Switch to TNT everyone… Gametime has begun! Soriano k’s - imagine that! Just looked up Lee and Aramis stats against Davis. Lee is 4-22 lifetime and Aramis is 5-22. Not a good sign. Dbacks shut them down - onto the bottom of the 1st!

9:24 PM: Leadoff walk for the Diamondbacks. Chris Young gonna steal again? Another walk for Lilly. 1st and 2nd with one out. Cubs should be out of this inning. Ouch! That might hurt D-Lee! Dbacks don’t score - moving on to top of the 2nd.

9:45 PM: Ouch. That hurts. Soto of all people hits a 2 run bomb. Nasty - downright nasty. Settle down Davis! Three down! Not much hurt. Dbacks can get 2 back on Lilly - no doubt!

9:54 PM: Leadoff man on with Justin Upton to the plate. Come on youngster - tie this game! Walked him. Lilly not looking sharp! Nice bunt byDavis. 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Big spot for Chris Young. Base hit and this game is tied! GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE GONE!!!!!!!!! Chris FREAKIN Young…. 3-2 Diamondbacks!!! Woohooo!!! Ok Lou.. Time to yank Liliac! Triple time! 4-2… Holy dbacks… Wow - inning ovah!

10:18 PM: Leadoff walk for Davis. I was right on with the high scoring game. Pitchers are not looking good. Dang, overran the foul ball. Hope that doesn’t bit the snakes. Chubs come up empty! Let’s get some more runs Dbacks!

10:27 PM: Dbacks don’t score - uneventful half inning.

10:40 PM: SAFE! Come on Lou. Start kicking dirt on the ump. He wasn’t out of the baseline. Deal with it. This game is all but over. 4-2, no outs in the bottom of the 4th. That was weak Sweet Lou. I expect more! Dbacks get one on. Let’s hit a 2 run bomb here. Walked Young with the Cub killer, Stephen Drew, coming to the plate! Yeah baby. 2 RUN TRIPLE!!!!!! That’s what I’m talkin about. This game is over. What time is it? Byrnes time HUH! Dbacks leave a man on 3rd, but after 4, 6-2 dbacks!!! Doesn’t it seem like it should be the 7th inning already? Game going kinda slow!

11:00 PM: Did he really only get a single on that? Nice play Byrnes! Routine fly ball for Theriot. Warning track power. We need a nickname for Ryan Theriot. Any ideas???? Cya cubs… We go to bottom 5. 6-2 still!!!

11:12 PM: Leadoff walk. Going to be a long inning. One out now… Reynolds steals 2nd. Basehit here and the Dbacks have a 5 run lead. Who is Kevin Hart by the way??? Another walk. Lou just figured out he didn’t even know who his pitcher was. Seriously, is that a minor league prospect? Could this inning take any longer - no progress from 5 minutes ago. YES! Another run. Single for the ex-cubbie… 1st and 3rd with one out still. Scott Eyre sucks! Ahhh… I bet that fingernail caused you to suck huh?!?! Right! This is a joke. HAHA. Gold glover, errrr, average first baseman, Lee makes a stupid play throwing the bunt home. Unintentional squeeze play makes it 8-2. Two down now. Think we can get a 3 run bomb here? Wild pitch. Inning still going. Is this the worst team to EVER make the playoffs? Ground out. Finally over. Cubs coming up. Getting ready for the contest in an inning or so? Who wants the shirt?

11:43 PM: What a play by Upton in center. He has wheels. 2 outs already for the Cubs in the top of the 6th! Doug Davis gets pulled and leaves to a standing ovation. Great work Doug! 2 run double by Ward pulls the Cubs back to within 4. Still not worried. Soriano whiffs. He looks really bad. Bottom 6 time. 12:39 AM: 1 out. You can’t touch Valverde. I like this Dbacks team. Even when they aren’t playing the Cubs I think I might adopt them and cheer for them. Fun team to watch. Rockies/Dbacks would be interesting for the NLCS. Basehit Soriano. Doubleplay here to end it? Oh Drew. Are you taking notes from the Chubs??? Seriously Cub fans - just STOP BELIEVING!!!

So the more I thought about last night the more I question Lou’s decision to yank Carlos Zambrano after 85 pitches through 6 innings.  Zambrano was DEALING!  He was pitching a great game and putting the Cubs in a great spot to win Game 1.  Some Cub fans think it was the right move but most Cub fans  about this.  Lou’s explanation was,

“I’ve got a good bullpen here and I trust my bullpen,” Piniella said. “I’m bringing back a pitcher on three days’ rest on Sunday, and I took a shot with my bullpen. It didn’t work today. They’ve done it all year, and I’ve got confidence in them, period, end of story.”

That’s bull.  I don’t care how good your bullpen is.  Let your ace go 100+ pitches in the freakin playoffs.  Hilarious that he is still trying to defend his move.  Admit it Sweet Lou - you made a mistake and it cost you the game.  Period.  Marmol has been good but he’s not experienced at all.  Big Z is a big game pitcher that was pitching as good as possible - inexcusable to yank him.  Don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining, just think it’s a boneheaded move.

With their backs against the wall, the Cubs are in a must win situation tonight will Lilly on the bump.  Doubt that’s gonna happen but who knows.  We’ll be live blogging again tonight starting around 8:30 - 9:00 PM so come join.  If we can get 10+ people commenting and interacting we will give away some cool Cubs Suck stuff.  We’ll see how the night goes.  Look for the thread later this afternoon!

8:53 PM: Zambdumbo doing his best impression of Mike Tyson, jumping up and down, psyching himself up for Game 1. Something honestly tells me that these young, pesky Dbacks are gonna get to Carlos tonight. Eric Byrnes is NAILS! Almost gametime.

8:59 PM: Frank Thomas and Cal Ripken joining together on the pre-game commentating team?!?! Thats an odd combination of players. What are the odds the commentator team could be the Cubs, now!

9:07 PM: First pitch swinging for Soriano. Way to be patient. Brandon Webb for president! One gets on but dbacks shut them down after that. Nothing happening for the Cubbies. Dbacks turn.

9:16 PM: BASE HIT to start the series for the Dbacks. Big Z might not have it tonight. You think Young will run on Soto? YEP. He will. Chris Young says, “SOTO WHO?”. 2 down - man on third. Come on T. Clark!!! Dangit! On to inning 2.

9:33 PM: Cubs don’t score - bottom 2 now. Dbacks at the plate. Up and down. Top 3!

9:39 PM: Glad all of you readers could be here. It’s never fun ‘blogging’ to yourself! GoBrewCrew - the Brewers are a year away. I think they will make a serious run at the World Series next year. Keeping Sheets healthy is huge. Braun is a monster. As for the Cardinals - not sure what to expect - new GM - maybe new manager. How about a younger team? With Pujols in uniform they will be a threat. Especially if Carpenter comes back. Talk about the Sox later.

9:40 PM: Honestly, is Zamfreako the best hitting pitcher in the majors? DA WHIFFFFFFFF. Webb strikes out the side to shut down the Cubs. Dbacks turn to get some runs!

9:51 PM: Carlos is dealing tonight. When will he implode? 5th inning? 6th? While we are waiting - any ideas for things that could be added to this site? Comment with your suggestions. I’d love to get a talented graphics person on board to create some more Suckcessories or just funny pictures in general. Anyone? Dbacks go down again. Cubs coming up.

9:59 PM: Webb is really good. Really good! This game might end 0-0. Oh wait, the Cubs bullpen will blow that! During your downtime check out MyBrewers blog where he picks the Phillies to beat the Yanks for the World Series. He wants the Rockies to beat the Indians. Either way - NO CUBS! So Cubs down, Dbacks come to bat again.

10:03 PM: GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that JD Drew? No - it’s Stephen Drew! Impressive. Time to lose it BIG Z. Soriano hurt, better get your billion dollar butt to the bench! Dbacks go down but lead 1-0 after 4. Brandon Webb to the mound.

10:09 PM: So how much effect has Lou actually had on this team? I don’t think Lou has anything to do with it. It’s simple, they had more wins this year because they spent A TON MORE MONEY than in the past. Money doesn’t always win championships but it helps win games. Lou didn’t do anything special to put this team over the top.

10:25 PM: 2 K’s for Zambrano to get out of the 5th. This game seriously might be over at 1-0. What a devastating loss that would be. I’m wearing down here! haha… Gotta plug on for a few more hours! Thanks for the comments everyone!

10:46 PM: Here comes Mr. Drew! The modern day “Cub Killer”. Hit as usual. It does not suck to be Stephen Drew when playing the Cubs! Whoa, what is this leadoff line thingy? Strange. Technology is amazing these days. Come on crazy legs byrnes… Dang! 1 hit, 1 left, after 6 it’s even at 1 a piece.

10:54 PM: Zambrano is done! Marmol has been good but can he handle the playoffs? Man Soriano is quite a ‘free swinger’. If it’s coming towards home plate, he is swinging! Cubs down 1-2-3. Bottom 7 - it’s time!

11:03 PM: MARK FREAKIN REYNOLDS. Carlos Marmol can’t handle the pressure of the big game. Gone! Love it! 2-1 dbacks… That was a bomb! I don’t truly think the Cubs can score again. Valverde is tough but I’d keep Webb in forever. And I mean forever. Heck, let him pitch game 2 and 3 too. Cya Marmol. Oh no, Webb getting hit for. Who do the Dbacks have for the 8th? Could be trouble in the making. Let’s hope the dbacks tack on another couple here. Nevermind - Marmol stays in but might give up another bomb. Double bringing runners to 2nd and 3rd. Pinch hitter coming to the plate for Webb. RBI double would be sweeter than sweet! Sac fly works. 3-1 Dbacks with 2 out and a man on 2nd now. Leadoff man Chris Young at the plate. K’d him! We go to the 8th with the Dbacks leading 3-1. I need a drink!

Tomorrow the game is on at 9:00 PM again. We will be here again for a live blog and am going to attempt to get an even bigger comment following. If we can get 10+ people in the mix I’m going to throw out a contest or two for some nice Cub Suck prizes! Lilly gets rocked in game 2!

11:20 PM: How dare I not know Brandon Lyons is the 8th inning man! 1-2-3 go the Chubs! Nice play by none other than Mark Reynolds to end the inning. Dbacks coming to the plate.

11:28 PM: Howry comes in. Quick 2 strikeouts but I don’t think they need anymore. 2 run lead is way more than enough for Mr. Valverde. Clark retired - we go to the 9th!

11:32 PM: Ok, here we go. 3 more outs to go. Valverde has been good this year but does he have any postseason experience? Doesn’t matter. I’m feeling a pure 100% NL West NLCS this year. Rockies and Dbacks baby. Valverde saved all 4 dback wins over the Cubs this year? Nice. Soto up to start the 9th. Fly ball. 2 MORE OUTS!!! Theriot to the plate. Big V is throwing 96+ right now. Nice! How do you like “Big V”? Nice little ring to it. What in the world is this guy doing? A freakin neon sign? Typical Cub fan. MORON! That doesn’t phase Big V though. 2 gone on another K ball!!! 1 MORE OUT!!! Love it. Chanting and showing 1908 signs. They all need to visit Cubs Suck Club - ha. Come on Big V, no walk! We are less than 24 hours from the Cubs first playoff game since 2003.  Anyone excited?  I am.  I can’t wait to see the Cubs get their fans all geared up only to do something memorable and let them all down.  Fun times!  Brandon Webb vs. Carlos Zambrano - could not ask for a better pitching matchup in game 1.  Here is the Cubs projected lineup:
