Over a Century of Bad Chicago Cubs Baseball

Watch out for that wall Alfonso

Alfonso Soriano — By webmaster on Monday, March 24, 2008

This came up several weeks ago but we are just now getting around to it. Alfonso Soriano isn’t afraid of much - but he IS afraid of running into the outfield wall.

“I have no problems running from side to side or running to make a catch in front of me,” he said. “The only problem I have sometimes is running backward because I’m scared of hitting the wall. But I’m working very hard in spring training to get better. … That’s one of the only places that has [bricks] in the back [instead of padding],” Soriano said. “But the work in spring training will help me there and in different ballparks. I just have to work to make myself more comfortable.”

WHAT? Is that why you suck in the outfield? Afraid that wall is gonna jump out at ya? Maybe the Cubs should consider moving him back into 2B or something. Or better yet, lets pad the walls at Wrigley! And while we are at it, let Sam Zell sell some ads on the walls. LOL!

Isn’t the warning track there so the players know when they are getting close to the wall?

remember, fonzie has only been an outfielder for a few years. he’s a bit of a slow learner. in other words, he’s perfect for the scrubs!

I find it funny that the Cubs are paying so much for someone who is afraid of a wall with ivy.

Ok first off, who on here would run full bore into a brick wall?

Second off……he sucks in the outfield??? Ok I guess 20+ outfield assists is pretty s****y.

Nobody is asking him to run full bore into the wall, but with as much money as he is making….he should get over the fear of running backwards. I go back to the warning track….that lets him know that he is coming close to the wall…..DUH

no one here said he sucked in the outfield, bob. it’s just obvious that he never should have left the infield.
