Are the Cubs really trying to choke?
Come on Cubs? You had a billion game lead on the division/wild card with a month to go. Surely a LOCK for the playoffs right? We aren’t so sure anymore. This team is all but unraveling like the Chubs we know. It will take a chokejob like no other for this team to not make the playoffs, but regardless, they are playing like dog crap at the wrong time. You never want to be ‘cold’ going into the playoffs.
If that’s not bad enough… The Cardinals are beating them and soon the Brewers will beat up on them. Big Z is hurt, errrrr, crying… Harden’s arm is starting to be in question. The offense is not showing up. Cubs Suck!

Our good friend Guest says that September is a much better time to falter than say, May or June. I’m not sure of the reasoning behind that statement other than it’s just more Scubbythink, but apparently he believes it.
Sheep…
September 11th, 2008 at 8:42 am
June swoon is a little late, but that’s only because they paid a gazillion dollars to delay the choking for the end.
September 12th, 2008 at 12:25 am
“The Cardinals are beating them and soon the Brewers will beat up on them. Big Z is hurt, errrrr, crying… Harden’s arm is starting to be in question”
Nice research on this one. If you would have bothered to do any, instead of talking out of your ass, you would have known that both are back in the rotation. Harden’s arm sure looked like crap tonight.
The Brewers may not even win the wild card. C.C. can’t pitch everyday.
September 12th, 2008 at 12:30 am
I just want to know…where did that White Sox fan disappear to?
September 12th, 2008 at 7:33 am
Which one?
September 12th, 2008 at 9:01 am
That loud mouth soxfanforever.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:31 pm
How can anyone be a “loud mouth” anything when we’re all typing here?
Just askin…
September 12th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Spend all day thinking of that comeback Card?
September 12th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
To ok1290 (okimadelusionalidiot),
You, a cub fan, call ME a loudmouth? LOL! TALK ABOUT THE POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK!! Don’t worry, I’m still here, just waiting for the cubs to choke-AND THEY WILL-let’s see how much talking you clowns do then.
Go Go White Sox and whoever plays the cubs (flubs).
September 12th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
There you are! What’s happening? How’s that Griffey guy doing for the Sox. Thank god they got him. Now they have someone to pick up the slack for Quentin. What?!? Jr. has only 1 hr in almost 100 ab’s. And how did Quentin get hurt? His reasoning was priceless!
Quentin: “Duh, I do it all da time. Why would it hurt to hit your fist on a hard solid object? Seemed like a good thing to do in a tight pennant race.”
Welcome back soxfan.
September 12th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
LOL!
Like REBELSOX said. the flubs spent a gazillion dollars trying to postpone the inevitable. What about Zamwhacko? He thiks he’s so tough when he’s punching out a Gatorade cooler, but let him get a little muscle soreness (owwie), and he can’t pitch for 2 weeks. What’s the matter? Not taking enough steroids? Or maybe too many like that commercial says how steroids destroy athletes. That’s okay, you cub fans just keep talking!
September 13th, 2008 at 12:42 am
Found this on espn/ 2008 payrolls
1. Yankees- 207 million
5. White Sox- 121 m
8. Cubs- 117 m
25. Twins- 57 m (lol Sox can’t even pull away from a team that lost Hunter and Santana)
A Gatorade cooler is made of plastic and is lightweight. A baseball bat is…nevermind, I doubt you are smart enough to know the difference. Also, Zambrano did not, as you errounsly stated, “punching out a Gatorade cooler”. He kicked and threw 2 of them. Even in his fit of anger, he was smart enough not to injure his hands. Try this, I think you may get this.
Cooler= SOFT!
Baseball bat= HARD!!
September 13th, 2008 at 1:33 am
To okimadelusionalidiot:
Let’s see:
Quentin is out, Konerko is out, Crede is out, Griffey is struggling, and we were down to a 4 man rotation. However, the White Sox ARE STILL IN FIRST PLACE! HOW ABOUT THAT! I wonder where the cubs would be with that many injuries? Probably where they were in 06.
By the way you better recheck your figures, that was probably the RED sox at 121 million. If not, I stand corrected
September 13th, 2008 at 1:35 am
However, while I admit it wasn’t very smart what Quentin did, neither is it very smart for an ENTIRE TEAM to let itself get psyched out by one of their fans knocking away a foul ball, especially when 5 outs from the World Series!
September 13th, 2008 at 1:39 am
Lastly, when P. K. Wrigley owned the cubs, he did practically nothing for the team-he used them as a tax writeoff. Isn’t it ironic that the cubs now have ownership and management that will spend millions of dollars on the team seeking the best possible talent, yet they STILL find newer and funnier ways to choke! LOL! “Duhhh, we do it all the time!”
Go Go White Sox and whoever plays the cubs (flubs)!
September 13th, 2008 at 1:49 am
4. Boston 133 mil
All kidding aside, this hurricane looks really bad. I hope the people down there got out.
September 13th, 2008 at 6:14 am
Thanks for the afterthought about Ike. I have family down there, and it’s pretty damn scary. They didn’t “get out” as Houston wasn’t evacuated. They’re hunkering down, staying in place.
Ike is lucky for the Scubs, though, since they can put off playing the red hot Astros. I was so looking forward to the Stros putting a kink in the Losers’ tails. All sheep are hoping the Stros will cool off before the Losers have to play them. And what a crock if the powers that be make them play the makeup games in a neutral place. Should happen only if it’s impossible to play at MMP. No matter, the Losers will still find a way to implode. Now don’t come back with the patented “The Scubs will win the division” crap. We all know that. I’m referring to their inevitable postseason collapse. Fun times, boys and girls.
September 13th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
“Quentin is out, Konerko is out, Crede is out, Griffey is struggling, and we were down to a 4 man rotation”. EXCUSES,EXCUSES,EXCUSES, cry baby. I’ll agree to Quentin but Konerko? What, the Sox going to miss his blazing speed and gold glove? Sox were doing fine without Crede, replaced by a guy they didnt even want.(Uribe)
Let’s check the current standing for the AL central.
Damn, the Sox are still in 1st place, but it’s looks like they have company.
Card, how is it “fun times” when your team just blew it’s wild card hopes by losing to the Pirates? (again)
September 13th, 2008 at 10:36 pm
To ok1290 (okimadelusionalidiot):
You, a cub fan, calling me a loudmouth, calling me dumb, saying I’m making excuses-crybaby! LOL! Again, you’re the pot calling the kettle black! I wasn’t making excuses, dum dum. I was simply pointing out that, despite injuries and Griifey’s struggles, the White Sox ARE STILL IN FIRST PLACE! You cub fans have done NOTHING BUT MAKE EXCUSES FOR 100 YEARS! You do NOTHING BUT CRY WHEN YOUR FLUBBIES LOSE! I can’t wait to see what your excuse is this year when they choke-AND THEY WILL!
Who will be this year’s Steve Garvey?
September 13th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Just want to share something with everybody. Barack Obama, possibly our next president, is a White Sox fan!
How does that grab you cub fans? At least we won’t have a cub fan as President. THANK GOD. Bush has done enough damage to this country. We don’t need to make things worse!
Go Go White Sox and whoever plays the cubs (flubs)!
September 14th, 2008 at 12:24 am
And yes, my thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by Hurricane Ike.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:44 am
“You cub fans have done NOTHING BUT MAKE EXCUSES FOR 100 YEARS!” I’ve said this before, I havent been a Cub fan for 100 years. I have never made excuses. If this 100 years thing is such a big deal, let’s talk about 1919. Only MLB team in history proven to be cheating friggin losers! Have fun watching the Cubs in the playoffs. Yeah I know, I already know what your response is going to be.
September 14th, 2008 at 12:51 am
“At least we won’t have a cub fan as President. THANK GOD. Bush has done enough damage to this country.”
I don’t think Bush is a Cub fan moron. The way you wrote this says that he is.
September 14th, 2008 at 4:52 am
Well okdokey, it will be fun times when the Losers choke once again. I just don’t understand why we have to explain these things to you sheep. Ok, I’m lying. I DO understand why.
As i like to say, I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I’ll join in anyway. You sheep get all hot and bothered when someone brings up the 100 year thing saying the past means nothing, but the 1919 thing is a suitable insult? I’m sure soxfanforever, kstoltz, the webmaster, and all other Sox fans are just devastated about your bringing that up.
Sheesh…
September 14th, 2008 at 9:05 am
That’s was my point in bringing it up. None of us was there to experience what happened back then. I havent experienced 100 years of losing.
Have fun watching the rest of the season. A friend of mine is a Cardinal fan. He told me the only reason he still watching is to see if Albert can win the batting title. That should be really exciting.
September 14th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Now I have to be a Brewers, Stros, Phillies, whichever, fan for a few weeks.
On another note: MILWAUKEE? Milwaukee is MLB’s version of a “neutral location”? Please. The sheep will overrun Miller Park. The Stros not only lose their home field advantage, but the Losers gain it. Miller Park is like The Dump 2 when the Losers are in town. That’s just wrong. Now tell us that the Losers aren’t given special treatment.
September 14th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
lol Pirates sweep deadbirds. Pujols got 2 hits but Chipper got 3.
September 14th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Oh gee, you’ve really hurt my feelings with THAT one. What WILL I do if Albert doesn’t win the batting title? Truth is okeydokey, I couldn’t tell you on any given day who’s ahead. Not interested in individual player accomplishments. Sorry.
How about MLB cheating the Stros to help out the Losers? Now THAT’S quite interesting (not to mention dirty), don’t you think? One would think they’re a bunch of Republicans. Wait! I believe they ARE a bunch of Republicans. Rich assholes are usually Republicans. Middleclass and poor assholes are usually Cub fans.
September 14th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
okimadelusionalidiot, you crack me up! LOL! I HOPE you haven’t been around for 100 years. Like I said once before, I didn’t think you were in the Guinness book! What I meant was, cub fans (idiots like you), have been making excuses for 100 years!Furthermore, I never said Bush was a cub fan either, but he’s screwed this country up the way the cubs screw up-and they will. Lastly, you flub fans keep trying to play the “Black Sox” card, but there was no real evidence that they threw the series just alleged “confessions.
Besides, we broke our supposed “Black Sox curse” while you still have “The Goat” LOL! BAAAHHHH!
September 14th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
“Big Z is hurt, errrrr, crying” I’m sure he cried tonight and not because he was hurt.
September 14th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
O.K. Cardfan, if you were the commissoner, where should they have played?
Comment from Astros GM
Wade said several neutral sites were discussed once it became clear that the games couldn’t be played in Houston. With no risk of more weather delays, moving games to a dome made the most sense. Miller Park turned out to be the best available alternative, with the Brewers at Philadelphia on Sunday and off Monday.
Minnesota had football conflicts. Both teams had travel issues with Seattle.
September 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
“Miller Park turned out to be the best available alternative” sure, you cub fans say that because it gave the cubs an unfair advantage. The cubs played a home game for all practical purposes when it was suppopsed to be a home series for Houston.
September 14th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
“Damn, ther Sox are still in first place, but it looks like they’ll have company.”
That company was sure short lived as the Sox won both ends of today’s twin bill and are 1.5 games ahead of Minnesota.
And so much for “Scary tigers biting your ass.”
September 15th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Where else then? That’s all I’m asking Soxfan! Come up with a better solution! Yes it was unfair to Houston. “Miller Park turned out to be the best available alternative”, Cub fans didn’t say that. If you would learn to read, instead of spewing your b.s., you would have saw it was a comment by the ASTROS G.M. You sound like that idiot announcer the Sox have. Whine, whine, whine.
1.5 game lead sure looks better than a 7.5 lead?!?
September 15th, 2008 at 12:54 am
It is when you have more legitimate competition. “Whine whine whine,” again said the pot to the kettle. I hate to keep bringing it up, but you keep spouting YOUR b.s. You’re so jacked up just because you think you just know this is the “cubs’ year.”
Where else? How about Arlington?
I don’t whine or make excuses, I just point out fact!
Oh! How sweet it will be when your team chokes, and you’re bawling your eyes out, bitch!
Go Go White Sox and whoever plays the cubs (flubs)!
September 15th, 2008 at 5:24 am
I saw the interview with the head case Zambrano last night after the no-hitter. He only talked about himself and didn’t even mention his team. He only got 10 strike-outs, so the team got the other 17 outs. Strange he didn’t thank his teammates. Oh, that’s right, he’s an ass!!!
The Cubs are going to choke…as usual.
September 15th, 2008 at 6:20 am
“Yes it was unfair to Houston.” Oh well, tra la la…
I can hear the caterwauling form the northside if the tables were turned.
September 15th, 2008 at 11:43 am
“Yes it was unfair to Houston.” Oh well, tra la la…
I can hear the caterwauling form the northside if the tables were turned.”
Nice answer to my question commissioner cardfan. Maybe because you didnt have one. You’re fired!
September 15th, 2008 at 6:33 pm
That’s Commissioner cardsfan, dufus. Get the name right.
Let’s see…if they wanted to play in a park with a lid they could have chosen Toronto or Seattle-two truly neutral locations. They also could have played in LA (also very neutral). Though no lid, the weather is great 99% of the time. The Mariners and Dodgers were out of town both yesterday and today and the Blue Jays were away yesterday and off today. Perfect! All 3 places.
But why choose any of those places? That would mean that the Losers would have to travel! Horrors! I know, let’s play the games 90 miles from Chicago. That way, the Scubs are only a short bus ride away, their sheepy fans can fill the ballpark, and the “home team” Astros will have to fly 1000 miles straight through the remnants of Ike. Yeah, let’s do it!
Does that answer your question, okeydokey?
September 15th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
OK former Commission Cardfan, sir, thank you for your answer. I found this article in the Houston Chronical. The author blames Selig and the Astros owner Drayton McLane. Mclane wanted to wait to see if the storm was going to hit. He didnt want to lose the revenue for the 3 games, so he waited. If he would have acted sooner the games could have been played at a true “neutral” site. Because of his greed, it cost the Astros.
Part of that article
Commissioner Bud Selig should be embarrassed to have thrown a team in the thick of playoff contention into this situation. If the Astros miss the playoffs by a game, remember this one.
Drayton McLane shouldn’t be given a pass, either. He refused to believe predictions that a monstrous storm was headed for Houston. He wanted those three home games against the Chicago Cubs so badly that his judgment was clouded.
McLane defended his decision, saying he and Selig had “gone round and round” over where to play the game.
He said the Astros tried Minneapolis, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, etc. Every location was ruled out, either because there was a conflicting event or a poor weather forecast.
If the Cubs had lost a game or two, this would be a dead issue, but given you guys something else to rip the Cubs for. for.
September 16th, 2008 at 4:33 am
Bud Selig. There’s the answer. I think Bud Selig would offer up his right testicle to get the Scubbies into the WS. Do you realize how much money MLB and Selig would make if that happened in the 100th year? Yeah, bringing in Bud Selig only reinforces my theory that MLB is doing all it can (within “legal” means-this debacle for instance) to see that it happens. Trouble with the idea is that the powers that be apparently don’t understand that we’re talking about the Losers here. The Losers can blow themselves and all the rich Republicans clean out of the water because they ARE the Losers after all. Which, by the way, would be quite hilarious for the rest of us.
As for McClane? He’s not the brightest crayon in the box.
Oh, and we don’t need to be given something else to rip the Scubs for. We can come up with plenty on our own thanks.
September 17th, 2008 at 12:41 am
“He only got 10 strike-outs, so the team got the other 17 outs.” (that’s funny, ONLY 10 k’s)
I believe he had 3 putouts. He also made a decent play on a swinging bunt. So that’s 14, 2 of those being slightly more than a routine play. (liner caught by Lee and a fairly easy running catch by Derosa)
September 17th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Yes! There would have been all kinds of caterwauling from the cub fans if the tables were turned. okimadelusionalidiot and other cub fans know damn well they’d be screaming bloody murder if their opponent got the kind of unfair advantage the flubs just got in that series against Houston. Come on, Milwaukee is 90 miles from Chi, the cubs played 2 home games for all practical purposes. They could have played at least 1 of those games in Arlingon. Of course, they think just because they haven’t won in 100 years, everybody is just supposed to “hand the pennant to them.” While the Brewers and St. Louis have unfortunately rolled over and played dead against them, hopefully whoever the flubs face in the playoffs has other ideas!
September 17th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
LMAO! okeydokey asked me if it took all day to think up a reply to his post when in reality (not Scubby sheep reality, REAL reality) it was only 6 hours, from midnight til 6:20 AM (when I, like most normal people, was sleeping). THEN it takes him two freakin’ days to come up with a response to kstoltz.
Do sheep have a double standard, one for themselves and one for everyone else, or are they just plain stupid?
Or both?
September 17th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
I was commenting on your lame your post. You’ve never heard of that expression before?
September 17th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
Yeah yeah, sure you were. And yes, I’ve heard it before, mostly from Scubby sheep when they don’t have anything of substance to say. Doesn’t change the fact that it took you two days to get back to kstoltz.
Don’t you just hate it when you say or do something that you’ve taunted someone else for saying or doing? Everyone does it, but Scubby sheep are very good at it. Embarrassing, huh? Karma, it’s a funny thing okeydokey. Of course, as a Scubby sheep fan you know all about karma.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
“Doesn’t change the fact that it took you two days to get back to kstoltz” He wasn’t asking me a question, so why did I have to get back to him?
You don’t have to get to back to me on this. Just read and enjoy!
1. Chicago Cubs (4) 91 58 .611 —
2. Milwaukee Brewers 83 68 .550 9.0
3. Houston Astros 80 70 .533 11.5
4. St. Louis Cardinals 78 72 .520 13.5
5. Cincinnati Reds 69 81 .460 22.5
6. Pittsburgh Pirates 63 88 .417 29.0
Wait, let’s check the wildcard situation
1. Mets
2. Brewers .05
3. Astros 3
4. Cardinals 5
4. Marlins
Wow, to bad the Cards got swept by the Pirates. They’d be right in the thick of things. Well they will be able to celebrate…I’m sorry, be able to watch a celebration when they come to Chicago.*
*unless the Cubs sweep the Brewers, then they can watch the fun on WGN.
September 17th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
LMAO You’re funny okeydokey. Are you actually trying to get a rise out of me by posting the standings? That’s all you’ve got? (Have you ever heard that expression before?)
We’ve all conceded the division to the Losers. We’re now waiting for and looking forward to postseason. We’re getting our pools set up as to when the Losers will fold. Some say they will repeat last season’s hilarious exit, while others say they will win one, maybe two game. Others say they might even win the LDS then implode in the LCS. Some even go so far as to bet that the Losers will make it to the WS and get swept there. A slim few think they might actually win a game. No one has put their money on the Losers actually winning the title. I haven’t made my pick yet. I’m waiting to see who they play first. I’m leaning toward the LCS thing though.
Any of these scenarios would be fun to watch, don’t you think?
September 17th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Well, I said you didn’t need to respond. Thanks anyway, hope you had fun reading it.
September 18th, 2008 at 5:37 am
Ah, the old just ignore the subject ploy. Yes indeed, I HAVE heard that one before (again, mostly from sheep). I always respond, dufus. Can’t let a sheep have the last word. You haven’t figured that out yet?
Oh, I forgot to mention in my last post that there WON’T be an all Chicago WS, and that statement has nothing to do with the Sox.
Are we done here? Ok then, let’s move on.
September 18th, 2008 at 8:21 am
I just think it’s funny that Cubs fans will go out of their way to focus their attention to people like us who don’t support that exploitative corporation of theirs that just happens to own a baseball team. I guess it’s not enough they have a lot of sympathizers on their side… but they gotta have everyone on their side or else it hurts their feelings.
But go ahead and win the World Series… you’ll finally be even with the White Sox, but you’re gonna have to wait a loooooong time to be even with the Cardinals. GO CUB’TH!!!
September 18th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
In the immortal words of Jack Brickhouse and Harry…
HEY! HEY! HOLY COW! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!
September 18th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Wow! Okeydokey is really tossing out the rapid fire responses now. We should all be chagrined by his quick wit.
LMAO!
