Piniella Next to Suffer
The Cubs have supposedly finalized a deal that makes Lou Piniella their new manager. The deal is a three-year contract believed to be worth at least $4 million annually. They are expected to have a news conference later today to announce Lou as the next Cubs skipper.
Now Cub fans have something to be excited about… Again… Just give it 1 full year and you will all be calling for his head, just like Dusty.
So was this the right move for the Cubs? Absolutely not. Hendry made this hire in a desparate attempt to bring wins, NOW. Well, the Cubs aren’t structured and built to win now. They should have hired a youngster such as Girardi, and rebuilt this thing from scratch.
