Playoff Predictions: Cubs Lose in 4

Cubs Suck News — By webmaster on Monday, October 1, 2007

Take them or leave them - but we are giving you our correct playoff predictions for the 2007 playoffs. Despite what some Cub blogs are predicting, the Cubs WILL lose to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 4 games. Here is a breakdown of what’s going to go down:

Game 1: Zambrano @ Webb - Webb is tough and is 4-1 career vs. the Cubs! Zambrano is always nails on the road but he is just 1-2 lifetime against the Dbacks. Look for Big Z to get rattled come about the 5th inning and give up 3 or 4. Dbacks win game 1 by the score of 5-2.

Game 2: Lilly @ Hernandez - Rough start for the Cubs puts them down 0-2 to start the series. Livan has a winning record against the Cubs while Lilly has never beaten the Dbacks. Cubs bats just don’t show up in Arizona. Diamondbacks win 7-2 and take a 2-0 lead back to Chicago.

Game 3: Pitchers are unknown but I think the Cubs impress their fans and win this game. 9-4 Cubs.

Game 4: The Cub fans and their players ‘magical’ season ends in Chicago! 4-3 Dbacks in this one.

Sorry Cub fans - at least you have another week of baseball to look forward to. Any other predictions on this series?

That’s giving them a lot of credit, dontcha think? One win is a lot…

But I’m willing to forgive that. Good preview!

If the Cubs can “steal” game 1, they will win the series. Lilly has TWO career starts vs. Arizona, so BIG DEAL he’s never beaten them. Cub bats don’t show up in Arizona? This year? Last year? All the time? You must not follow baseball playoff history. In a short series a no name player often gets that one hit that wins a game. My point is, season stats (or lifetime even) often don’t matter. Ask Trevor Hoffman about it.

OKI… I agree that game 1 is a key game in this series. I just don’t see them beating Webb at home. Even with Big Z on the bump.

I say Arizona in 5. Cubs’ll win Lilly’s and Hill’s starts.
