Starting to Meltdown
Uh oh - look out. The good ole Cubbies are back again with another classic loss. This time - Lou Piniella is starting to understand that this team really is - BAD! After their 6-5 loss on Friday Lou was asked what ‘wasn’t working’ and he responded,
“What the hell do you think isn’t working? You see the damn game,”
Whoa Lou. A simple “Our bats aren’t working” or “Not a good loss, but we’ll bounce back” would have done just fine. Starting to get agitated Lou? He goes on to say.
“And then I bring in the reliever who’s throwing 30-to-40-foot curveballs to boot. I can see. I can start to see some of the ways this team has lost ballgames. I can see it. We’ve got to correct it obviously. … This game here is one that got away from us that really shouldn’t.”
Yep… I can start to see how they’ve lost ballgames too. You weren’t able to see this before that game? Hmmm. Zambrano basically imploded in this one giving up 6 in the top of the 5th including two bases loaded walks. Ouch. The ‘ACE’ of this team sure isn’t performing at 1-2 and a near 8.00 ERA! Better give him his money management!!!
The Cubs take on the Reds again at 12:05 on Saturday.
