Cub Hater Story

First off, I do want to you about myself. I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I am a Brewer fan. I go to different baseball ballparks for my vacation. There are only four ballparks I have not been to. Those ballparks are San Francisco, Washington and both New York ballparks. However, I have been to the previous venues that these respective teams played at.

I wear the hats and t-shirts of the hame team in the city I am visiting. The only time I do not root for the home team is when the Brewers are in the town I am visiting.

I take an Amtrak train trip once a year to Chicago. I alternate Wrigley and U S Cellular each year. I do root for the White Sox. I rooted for the White Sox in the 2005 World Series. I would love to see a Brewer- White Sox World Series.

I wear the opponent’s shirt and hat every time I go to Wrigley. I have a hat and shirt for 29 of the 30 teams in baseball. The only team I do not have covered is the Cubs.

I HATE THE CUBS!!!!

I think Wrigley Field is a dump. There are only three ballparks that suck more than Wrigley. One of them is the Metrodome. This is the last year for that place. I believe that this is the best “fan” club I am joining.

Now for my story:

I was in St. Louis back in 2005 for a Cardinal-Cub game. I stopped off at a place called Show-Me’s near the Arch after the game. Show-Me’s is a version of Hooters with better food. I was wearing a t-shirt that said “Chokers since 1908″. The word Chokers had the big red Cubs C. “Cubs Suck!” was on the back. Mind you, beer has a big part of this story.

I was sitting at the bar and drinking a mug of Miller. Five Cub fans were sitting at a nearby table and one of them noticed my CUBS SUCK t-shirt. I will now put in order what happened.

Bub fan yells: Hey you.

I turn around.

Cub fan: Turn your shirt inside out.

Naturally, I blew him off.

Cub fan: Hey.

I turn around again.

Cub fan: I told you to turn you to turn your shirt inside out.

I blew him off once again.

Cub fan leaves his table and sits next to me.

Cub fan: I am not going to tell you again. Turn your shirt inside out.

I pick up my beer, drink the rest and slam my mug on top of the bar.

Now it is my turn to talk:

Me: The only thing I am going to turn inside out is you if you do not go back to your table and shut the f*** up.

His four buddies jump up. I pick up a bar stool. A rumble is about ready to happen.

A little waitress named Danielle runs to my side and is ready to back me up. Joel and Jay the managers run from behind the bar and toss all five out. I pound on the window and laugh at all five of them as they leave.

I bought Danielle a shot and the legend of my hatred for the Cubs had been established in St. Louis.

I have many more “Cubs Suck” stories for you. I think this is going to be a lot fun to share my stories with you. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Lou Piniella to Retire at end of 2010 Season

Lou Piniella has officially announced he is going to retire as the Chicago Cubs manager after the completion of the 2010 season.  Cya Lou!  We are gonna miss you around Cubs Suck Club.  Your ugly scowl is a staple around here and the sucky managing you do always gives us great content.  We can only hope the next manager of the Sucky Cubs will give us just as much to laugh at.

So the two questions we have.

1) Did Lou actually decide to retire or get “fired” / “forced out”?  Thoughts?

2) Who will replace Lou as the next Chicago Cubs manager after 2010?

Let the rumors begin!  Lou Piniella retires after 2010 – shocking?  Nope!

Chicago Cubs Trophy Case Dust

Meteorologists have determined that the dust cloud that was recently spreading over Europe and delaying International travel was not from the volcanic eruption in Iceland, but are now interviewing the person responsible for cleaning the Chicago Cubs trophy case.

Is Lou Piniella a Closet Cardinals Fan?

So apparently Chicago Cubs manager, Lou Piniella, loves Mark McGwire.  Recently he has been cited as saying all of the following:

“He worked on his swing endlessly,” Piniella said. “He swung and missed a lot early in his career. He learned how to make contact more and more. With his strength, the ball flew out of the ballpark.” …

Will McGwire have trouble gaining the respect of Cardinals players after acknowledging that he cheated?

“I don’t think so,” Piniella said. “I really don’t.

“He confessed. In this country, they forgive and forget. Who is out there that can’t confess to something? We in this baseball fraternity forgive him.”

Piniella said that since McGwire has been welcomed by Pujols, the Cardinals’ team leader, the rest of the players will accept him.

“Albert Pujols is on his side and that helps him immensely,” Piniella said. “He’s got to look at it as now he has a job to do. He’s got some good hitters to work with. Pujols is the best hitter in the game, so that’s a good start. Give them a little mental confidence and some fine tuning and you let them go. They’re all professionals.”

Although McGwire’s success could mean a few losses for Piniella’s team in its battle for the National League Central title, Piniella wishes the rookie coach well.

“I think he’ll do a nice job,” he said.

Piniella said he does not feel McGwire’s presence on the road will make it difficult for the Cardinals to concentrate on playing baseball.

“I don’t think it will be a distraction,” he said. “It would have been a distraction if he did not have his press conference. That would have been the topic all year long. Now that it’s old news, maybe when he shows up for spring training, the first week or so that topic will be revisited. But hopefully, they’ll leave him alone and let him do his job.”

Another test for McGwire will be how he is treated by boisterous Cubs fans when he visits Wrigley Field.

“I think Cub fans will treat him fine,” Piniella said. “We have a great rivalry. He’ll be accepted well. I think they feel he confessed and it’s over with.” NYTimes.com.

Thanks to some Chicago Cubs blog for pointing all of these out to me.  But honestly, does this sound like a manager of the Chicago Cubs?  He’s talking so positively about the Cardinals.  Worry about your own team buddy  :)  If I didn’t know better I’d think he was the Cardinals GM or something.  If your manager likes the opponent better than your own team Cub fans, you are going to be in big BIG trouble for 2010.
