Cubs 18.5 Games Behind and Suck

stick-a-fork-in-cubs-jpg

It’s safe to say that the Chicago Cubs aren’t contenders this year. Just wanted a quick post to recap some of the suckiness going on as of late. So the Cubs sit at 18.5 games behind the Reds for first place in the NL Central. Thank God for their Triple A affiliate, Pittsburgh Pirates, or the Cubbies would be in the cellar this year. The Pirates sit at 28 games behind so there is still chance our beloved Cubs can catch them for the cellar dwellar title of 2010. They just continue to lose, night after night. What an absolutely terrible team the 2010 Chicago Cubs are.

Cubs are Sellers

It became official a few weeks ago that the Cubs were sellers this year. 2010 is officially a waste of time for Cubs players, Cubs management and Cubs fans. They sold Theriot, Lilly and Fontenot all in the same week. Rumblings of Aramis getting traded are picking up. And today there are strong talks that Derrek Lee is getting traded to the Atlanta Braves. What a blessing for these guys to get out of that dumphole team and not have to play at Wrigley anymore. What a sentence of torture. So we’ll see what happens but I’d expect Lee and maybe Ramirez to be gone soon.

Who’s Fault?

So who’s fault is the 2010 season? We put up a small poll on the right asking if it’s more Jim Hendry’s faulth or Lou Piniella’s fault? What do you think? Take a minute and respond to our poll and we’ll bring the results to you later this week or next week.

Lou Piniella Fly is Down! Suckcessory!

Lou!  An argument with the umpire is never THAT important.  He forgets to zip up his fly in a recent rush to the ump to make an argument.  OOOPS.

Lou Piniella to Retire at end of 2010 Season

Lou Piniella has officially announced he is going to retire as the Chicago Cubs manager after the completion of the 2010 season.  Cya Lou!  We are gonna miss you around Cubs Suck Club.  Your ugly scowl is a staple around here and the sucky managing you do always gives us great content.  We can only hope the next manager of the Sucky Cubs will give us just as much to laugh at.

So the two questions we have.

1) Did Lou actually decide to retire or get “fired” / “forced out”?  Thoughts?

2) Who will replace Lou as the next Chicago Cubs manager after 2010?

Let the rumors begin!  Lou Piniella retires after 2010 – shocking?  Nope!

Articles on Lou Piniella Retiring after 2010:

Is Lou Piniella a Closet Cardinals Fan?

So apparently Chicago Cubs manager, Lou Piniella, loves Mark McGwire.  Recently he has been cited as saying all of the following:

“He worked on his swing endlessly,” Piniella said. “He swung and missed a lot early in his career. He learned how to make contact more and more. With his strength, the ball flew out of the ballpark.” …

Will McGwire have trouble gaining the respect of Cardinals players after acknowledging that he cheated?

“I don’t think so,” Piniella said. “I really don’t.

“He confessed. In this country, they forgive and forget. Who is out there that can’t confess to something? We in this baseball fraternity forgive him.”

Piniella said that since McGwire has been welcomed by Pujols, the Cardinals’ team leader, the rest of the players will accept him.

“Albert Pujols is on his side and that helps him immensely,” Piniella said. “He’s got to look at it as now he has a job to do. He’s got some good hitters to work with. Pujols is the best hitter in the game, so that’s a good start. Give them a little mental confidence and some fine tuning and you let them go. They’re all professionals.”

Although McGwire’s success could mean a few losses for Piniella’s team in its battle for the National League Central title, Piniella wishes the rookie coach well.

“I think he’ll do a nice job,” he said.

Piniella said he does not feel McGwire’s presence on the road will make it difficult for the Cardinals to concentrate on playing baseball.

“I don’t think it will be a distraction,” he said. “It would have been a distraction if he did not have his press conference. That would have been the topic all year long. Now that it’s old news, maybe when he shows up for spring training, the first week or so that topic will be revisited. But hopefully, they’ll leave him alone and let him do his job.”

Another test for McGwire will be how he is treated by boisterous Cubs fans when he visits Wrigley Field.

“I think Cub fans will treat him fine,” Piniella said. “We have a great rivalry. He’ll be accepted well. I think they feel he confessed and it’s over with.” NYTimes.com.

Thanks to some Chicago Cubs blog for pointing all of these out to me.  But honestly, does this sound like a manager of the Chicago Cubs?  He’s talking so positively about the Cardinals.  Worry about your own team buddy  :)  If I didn’t know better I’d think he was the Cardinals GM or something.  If your manager likes the opponent better than your own team Cub fans, you are going to be in big BIG trouble for 2010.

Let’s Recap the Recent Cubs Suckiness

cubs-suck-beer-dude

So this years Chicago Cubs team is just sucking so bad and so often it’s impossible to keep up.  We want to recap this last weeks events in one post and show all you haters just how sucky things are getting for the Lovable Losers and their fans.

  • Crazy, moronic, Cub sheep (errr fan) decides it would be cool to dump beer on Shane Victorino’s head. Unfortunately, Shane and the rest of the world didn’t think this was such a great idea.  Victorino filed charges on this dude.  This guy fled the stadium and later turned himself in.  Now, only at Wrigley would you see this type of crap.  The drunk fans that have no clue or care how the team is doing… They just want to stir something up.  Typical Cub fan.  We stayed away from this story quite a bit but Deadspin pounded it.  So here are some links about this pathetic excuse for a baseball fan.

So who is going to make us a Cubs Suckcessory out of this idiots picture!  I can think of some creative sayings.

  • Gregg implodes again and loses closer role. It was becoming almost comical when Kevin Gregg would enter the game in a Cubs 9th inning game.  This dude would give up walks, runs, homeruns, and most importantly, GAMES!  Every single time this guy would make it interesting.  Gregg is horrible and should have been out as the Cubs closer last month… Ok, well he never should have been the closer but that is besides the fact.  Finally, last week after Gregg gave up another one of his notorious walk-off homeruns – Lou and crew pulled the plug on Gregg as the closer and are now going with Marmol.  Yeah because he has been so much better.  Must suck to have a sucky bullpen!
  • Carlos Zambrano has been lazy? I don’t have much to say but read this quote and tell me why the Cubs and Zambrano DON’T SUCK!

“My problem is I’ve been lazy,” a contrite Zambrano said. “There are things in life you don’t like to do, but you have to do them. I don’t like abs [abdominal muscle workouts], but I have to do them. I have to start doing them every day and be serious about it.”

Doctors are convinced stronger abdominal muscles will ease the pain on back discs, one of which is bulging and has caused Zambrano pain on and off for a few years.

“I’ve got to be honest with me and with you [media] guys and the fans. I’m 28 years old, I’m not 16 anymore,” Zambrano said. “I’m a big guy and I work hard every day, [but] one of the things I don’t like to do is my abs, my core work. If I do abs every day and keep doing my job and be serious about my abs, I’ll be OK.”

  • Sweet Lou gets nailed for jaywalking. Ok so he didn’t get nailed but Lou Piniella got a “warning” for jaywalking in San Diego.  Hilarious!
  • The Cubs are now down 6 games. It seems they can’t beat anyone and the Cardinals can beat everyone.  They just struggled with the Padres and now have to face the Dodgers for a series.  UH OH.  It’s do or die (ok, DIE) time for the Chubs this weekend.  They get down more than 6 games and we’ll all be shouting, “THEY GONE!”   And you lovable Cubs sheep will be crying about all the injuries and how we will now have to “wait til next year.”  It’s a broken record.  But hey, at least you have a song to make you feel better every now and then.  LOL!

Pile it on Cubs haters!
