- Greg Maddux – Sure he is back now for a couple years, but he had several Cy Young type years after he left the Cubs for Atlanta.

- Rafael Palmeiro – Hit 25 homeruns in 3 years with the Cubs. Left and continued to hit 544 over the next 17 seasons in another uniform.
- Joe Carter – Started with the Cubs organization. Hit 396 career homeruns after he left.
